strange blood pressure?

So far I know, the blood pressure should be 120/80 to be normal and if it is 140/90 then its considered High bp. My problem is, I am a bangladesh citizen, when I stay there I found I had high blood pressure like 140/90mmHg and my doctor prescribed me to take "Ramipril" 1.25mg everyday one tablet. but since last one month I am in china due to business purpose and I am having chinese food, I have my own bp meter which I carry always and I check my bp every day twice around 2 pm and 10 pm. Since I started eating chinese food in china, I found my blood pressure became like 135-85 and some time 128/80 but its not reaching 140/90. Then I stopped taking my medicine 15 days before and still now its the same like 130-135/80-85. I would like to inform that here in China we are taking half of a small boul of rice in the afternoon or at dinner but mostly vegetable, fish, beef, chicken and egg. I want to know is it a normal case?

  1. 140/90 is only considered high blood pressure if the bottom number stays at 90 or higher for 2 weeks or more. You may have what is called labile hypertension- meaning it goes up and down erractically but if you are testing it regularly and this is not the case perhaps you are looking at other factors. "White coat syndrome" is when you get tense when seeing a Dr. and your BP becomes elevated. Keep track of your BP and discuss it with your Dr. Bringing in your readings will help him figure out if you truly have hypertension or not.Lots of luck.
